Baby, Come Home With Me

“Baby, Come Home With Me.” 48 x 36 acrylic on canvas with beads, confetti, & sparkle: a piece I made to capture the frenetic feelings of when you begin to mourn yourself and your actions while the party begins to end. In the best of terms, hangxiety. Paired with the feeling of wanting to go home with that special (or not so special) someone for comfort, most women my age have experienced the struggle of a modern day “situationship” and how it’s defined. Are you talking to other people? Are they? Should I care? The overarching feeling of guilt, longing and at times embarrassment— “I’ve committed so much sin, and for what?” Sitting on the curb at the end of long Mardi Gras nights— how many of us go home feeling sick, not because of overconsumption, but the fear of being alone?
